What to Expect - Wills
At the outset of the transaction, we will write to you with full details of our costs and other regulatory information as required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We will also send out various forms that need to be completed in relation to the transaction. We will verify your identity in accordance with both Anti-Money Laundering and Land Registration Regulations. We will also meet you face to face in person or by video call.
We will meet with you to discuss and complete our Will Instructions/Questionnaire Form. Once you are happy to proceed further, we will request payment on account of our costs. Following receipt of cleared funds, we will prepare and submit a draft Will to you for checking.
Orchid Law does not provide tax advice and you may therefore wish to check with your accountant/financial advisor whether any Inheritance Tax planning will be beneficial to you before finalising your Will.
Once you are happy with the contents of the Will, we will meet with you again when the final copy (“engrossment”) will be signed in accordance with the relevant legal requirements.
We recommend that the original Will is then retained in our fireproof cabinet for safekeeping on your behalf. We will supply you with a copy of the signed version for keeping amongst your papers.
Orchid Law aims to reduce stress and worry for clients where possible during their transaction and we are often available outside usual office hours for your convenience.
If you would like us to prepare a Will for you, please let us know by submitting the Enquiry Form from the “Contact Us” page of our website or telephone us on 01233 822250.
