Lasting Powers of Attorney

There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney:-

  • Property and financial affairs (allowing your attorney(s) to make decisions about paying bills, dealing with the bank, collecting benefits, selling your house etc), and
  • Health and welfare (allowing your attorney(s) to make decisions on treatment, care, medication, where you live etc).

If you lose mental capacity at some point (for whatever reason) and you have not completed a Lasting Power of Attorney, other people may need to apply to the Court of Protection to be able to make any decision on your behalf. This can be costly, and can be demanding and stressful for your relatives, friends and carers.

Our charges for Lasting Powers of Attorney are £450.00 plus VAT for one type for one person.  If one person wishes to make both types, the discounted charge will be £650.00 plus VAT.  If a couple wish to make one type of Lasting Power of Attorney in similar form, the charge will be £600.00 plus VAT.  If a couple wish to make both types of Lasting Power of Attorney in similar form, the discounted charge is £850.00 plus VAT.  The fee for registration of each Power of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian is £82.00.
